Soul Scrappers SURVIVOR challenge

Hello Friends!

Over at Soul Scrappers we have a brand NEW monthly challenge!

Called.......

Our first challenge for JANUARY is up and running...
You can find out all the details HERE

SHELTER

Here is my example...

For this challenge you must add ‘shelter’ to your page.
The definition of shelter is a place giving temporary protection from bad weather or danger.
On Survivor (the reality TV show), one of the first things each tribe had to do was build shelter to protect them from the elements. They used palm trunks for the sides and roof and palm fronds to cover the roof
Your shelter must have sides and a roof.
Your shelter can be handmade from sticks, paper, canvas, material, burlap,
fibres, card stock, icy pole sticks etc....

Can you OUTWIT, OUTPLAY, OUTLAST

We would love to see you join in....

Thanks and Cheers!

ARTastic JANUARY inspiration

Welcome to a brand new year on ARTastic.

Our first inspiration for 2020 is this bright and happy artwork by Donald James Waters called Day Trippers which should work perfectly with our criteria this month of a vacation or travel theme.

Here is my Design team example...

First ever page from our family Bali trip in 2001
Jenna and Adam having fun at Waterbom Park.

This year we will no longer be using a "linky" tool. Please upload your entries directly to the monthly album in our Facebook public group (ARTastic challenges) by midnight on the last day of the month - please remember we are an Australian based challenge so do check your day and time. For anyone not on Facebook, simply email us your entry and if you have a blog, a link to that too so we can still pop past for a visit. You may combine your entry with 3 other challenges. You may enter more than once in any month as long as each submission is with a different creation. International entries are very welcome.

We would love you to Join in this months challenge!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

What's in the Bickie Tin - Christmas HAIR Doodads

The December challenge is up on 'What's in the Bickie Tin?'

You can find the challenge here

This month's requirements are;

The colour GREEN
BLING
RIBBON

Here is my page called

'Christmas HAIR Doodads'

I used the colour GREEN - subtle background watercolours, Green bow (baubles), green stitching and behind the photos

I used BLING - scattered red bling around the page

I used RIBBON - on the right and left sides of my page (I used RED Florist ribbon as its a bit stiffer and stays in place easier)

I decorated the page with bow bauble embellishments as the theme of the page was hair doodads and bows are definately Hair Doodads!! lol

Thanks for a great challenge Bickie Tin Team.

Looking forward to next month now!

Cheers

Finding happiness

Minimalism is about owning fewer possessions...owning less stuff!
I no longer need to find happiness and fulfilment in possessions. I want to find happiness and fulfilment in making memories, and doing more with my life, and to do that, I don’t need more stuff in my life!

I’ve decided to give myself a year to change my life and become minimalistic. Over the year I’m going to go through every room in my house, every cupboard, every drawer, every cluttered space. I’m going to take pictures along the way....the before and after! I’m going to sell, donate, throw out and give away my unwanted stuff, so I can live a simple life and do more things I love!

I’ve decided to start with my front room....it’s a complete disaster. It’s the room that every one sees first when they step into my house. It is filled with stuff - Jenna’s stuff, left behind after she moved out many years ago, broken items that need fixing, items that no longer serve a purpose, boxes filled with paper work that need sorting, junk items, soft toys, old toys etc.....

Today is the start of minimalistic journey!

A simple life!

Today, is my birthday!!
Happy Birthday Shazza!!

Having less stuff to look after means, doing more things for me, spending more time with my family and friends, being able to have people over to my house without feeling I can’t have anyone over because the house is a freaking mess, doing more things I love.....
I realise that my possessions are not making me happy, they are actually keeping me from the very things that make me happy in life. I want more joy, more peace, more relaxing times and definitely a purpose!
I no longer want to accumulate material possessions, I want my life to be SIMPLE!
To have a SIMPLE life, I need to let go of things I don’t need any more, things that no longer serve me, things (clothes) I don’t fit into, things that are broken, things I no longer collect...... but most of all to stop brining items into my house. Stop shopping, stop being convinced by advertisement that I need something, stop buying stuff just because it’s cheap, stop buying stuff because I think I’m getting a bargain!

STOp! STOP! STOP!

Shazza simplified!

This morning as I laid in bed, looking around my bedroom and into my walk-in wardrobe.....I thought gee I really do have a lot of stuff :( Do I really need all this stuff? How have I accumulated so much stuff? Am I South Morang’s number one hoarder?
So, I decided to launch a new cycle in my life.... I’m calling it ‘Shazza simplified’! What does that mean?
It means from today I’m starting a new chapter in my life. I’m going to minimalist my life by reducing the stuff I have! I’m tired of maintaining, sorting, cleaning, dusting, replacing, and  repairing my stuff. How many times have I decluttered my garage....many, many times, (just ask my sister Debbie Carboni). Every time we chat, she asks me ‘what are you doing’ and my answer more often than not is.....I’m tidying the Garage! LOL
Today I’ve decided I no longer need ‘Stuff’ to make me happy! Some days I can’t even see the things I love because ‘stuff’ is in the way, taking up space, taking over my life....
I feel like I’m being held captive by my ‘stuff’! My household clutter has to go. You can’t organise clutter!
Today is my first step to my ‘Shazza simplified’ life....
Today I’m becoming a MINIMALIST!

Archi-scraps - In-between dress sizes

This month at Archi-scraps the chalenge is to SQUEEZE something in-between.

You can find the challenge HERE

At Archiscraps during April we are asking you to SQUEEZE SOMETHING IN BETWEEN.

Here is my Interpretation of the challenge...

In-between Dress sizes

Here I am in-between two dresses!!

I paper folded the dresses origami style, then jazzed them up by adding a belt and a button. I found two 'Barbie' coathangers to use...perfect!

Here is a close up....

The Journaling says.....
Don't you hate it when you're in-between dress sizes!!
You try to SQUEEZE into one size (using your straight back, suck your tummy in super power!!) OR the next size up hangs loosely off you like a floppy summer shift that makes me look like a frumpy sweatshirt mum!!

Oh so FRUSTRATING!!!

Thanks for a great and fun challenge Julene and Archiscrap design team ladies!

cheers

Archi-scraps - Awesome Foursome

The challenge this month at Archi-scraps is Chevrons and the colour Blue

Castello di Sammezzano
This castle looks sedate on the outside but on the inside? It’s an explosion of color and texture. The 16th century masterpiece of architecture and design sat abandoned in Tuscany, Italy, for decades.

Here is my interpretation of the challenge..

Awesome Foursome

and a close up

I added blue chevron felt behind the blue picture frames.

Thankyou for such a great challenge this month
Julene and all the Design Team gals!
