The Stampin' Mama Journaling 101 Online Scrapbook Course
You've asked for it....It's BACK....
and it starts on October 19th!

Register for class by Saturday, October 3rd, and receive a FREE copy of The Stampin' Mama Artwork Inspiration CD

One of the things that I hear most often about my scrapbook layouts is that people connect with the journaling. They feel that, even if they don't know me, they can connect with me and feel like they know me simply by reading the journaling that I've included on my layouts. They feel like they understand the story I'm trying to tell by reading my journaling.

The next thing that I hear most often is that journaling is really hard for most people to include on their layouts. There are many reasons that people don't include journaling on their layouts.

  • They feel like they don't have anything to say.
  • They don't know where to start.
  • They feel like they're not a writer.
  • They hate their own handwriting.

Do any of these sound familiar to you? Do you feel this way?

The truth is, there's a writer in all of us. Our photos have stories to tell. Some people just need a little help to bring that writer out to tell the story.

"The Journaling 101 Online Scrapbook Course"
is tailored for people just like you!

"A picture is worth a thousand words." We all know the saying......but do we put the words with our pictures? If you're putting your pictures in scrapbook albums but aren't telling the stories that go with them, you're missing the other half of the photos.....the words that tell the story!

If you're looking to create artistic and creative albums and want to tell the stories but need some help to get started, then I know you'll enjoy the upcoming 12 week course that I've created.

"The Journaling 101 Online Scrapbook Course" starts October 19th!

All of the classes will be archived on the site for 3 months after the course finishes so if you can't get to the challenges and homework right away, you can always go back to it. The archives and galleries for the class will be up through March 4th, 2010, so there's plenty of time to get caught up.

Each week's class will include:

  • ALL NEW never-before-seen layouts!
  • Techniques, tips and ideas to stimulate your creative process
  • Tasks to complete
  • Challenges
  • Sample pages each week from me (Erika Martin) and 3 other amazingly talented scrapbook artists (one of those is {me} 'Shazza"................ lol)
  • A gallery for you to upload your pages to so that we can all share with each other
  • An interactive forum with discussions on each week's work
  • PDF files with all of the course outlines so that you can print them out or save them to your computer for future use
  • One-on-one email correspondence with me (Erika Martin) if you need help with any of the tasks

If you're already a scrapbooker or even if you've never scrapbooked before.....this course has something for everyone! It doesn't matter where you live or what you scrapbook with, this course has been created for everyone!

Class registration starts today and the course starts October 19th!

This interactive and creative online 12-week course can be paid for in 2 different ways:

Journaling 101 - Design Team Bio - Linda McClain

Hi Ladies,

Pop on over to Erika Martins Stampin mama blog and check out the bio of Linda McClain, she is one of the DT members featured for the Journaling 101 Course, you can get toErikas blog page from here.

Here is a little bit of info about Linda..........

I grew up in Indiana but Texas has been home now for over 25 years. My Tom and I enjoy watching our two children grow into incredible adults and have a lot of fun with them and our dogs. My day job as a nursing home surveyor keeps me away from them and my crafting more than I’d like, but it also gives me the opportunity to meet and help amazing people across Central Texas.

The movie producer Cecil B. DeMille once said "Creativity is a drug I cannot live without." (Being an RN who scrapbooks, wouldn’t you know I’d just love a quote about both drugs and creativity?) I do paper craft for selfish reasons – it keeps me sane.

There's still plenty of time to sign up in time for the course to start. For more info and registration details, check it out here ---> Journaling 101 Online Scrapbooking Course

And don't forget to mention in the comments to Erika – that Shazza sent you!!

Look at the great page Linda did with the
new Stampin' Up My Digital Studio software

(I think it's only available in the USA atm)

Sing Like the Birds

This is my entry for the September cybercraop at Ready, Set, Scrap set by AM.

Ann-Marie has caught Spring Fever! Here are the details of her challenge for you this month.

For my challenge I would like to see the word BIRD on your page somewhere

It can be in the title or in the journaling .. anywhere!
I also want to see some form of repetition on your page.
It can be a stamped image, the photo or a word - be creative! However it must be something repeated 3 or more times.
I want you to scrap with the though that less is more ... have some white space!
A bird somewhere on your page would be great - be it in the pattern paper or a charm etc
and finally .... here's the clincher lol!

I only want you to use 1 paper / Cardstock for this!!

You may add a flower or a frame etc made from some patterned paper

Here is my take on the September CC Challenge # 3 Birds are Chirping

All criteria covered:
The word bird appears in my title and journalling.
A repition of three photos.
Space
Embellie birds on the page
one pp = from the Green Stack

Journalling says: I want to sing like the birds sing and not worry about who hears or what they think - Rumi

And a close up!

and here is AM's example.......

In Loving Memory of Britt Lapthorne

My friend and close work companion Elke Lapthorne lost her daughter a year ago tomorrow. My heart aches for the family, who still to this day have no answers as to what actually happened to their beautiful daughter.

Britt went missing while backpacking in Dubrovnik, Croatia in the early hours of September 18th 2008 after leaving club Feugo. After an exhaustive search, her body was found in the sea in the Bay of Boninovo on October 8th 2008, and several days later was returned home to Australia accompanied by her father and brother. She was 21 years old. There are many people grieving the loss of such a vibrant and happy girl.

Her case attracted widespread support and media attention both here in Australia and in Croatia.

Britt is survived by her parents Dale and Elke, brother Darren, boyfriend Simon, and many extended family members and friends.

She will be loved and remembered FOREVER.

Rest in Peace Beautiful Angel!!

Romance is the Glamour

This is my entry for the Casino Royale Bonus challenge # 1 at 'Roll 2 Create'

Glitz & Glamour

The first bonus challenge I have for you is a bit of an open challenge.
Create a card, LO, OTP, what ever your scrappy heart desires.
The only criteria is use lots of glitz (bling, glitter, kindy glitz, pearls, sequins, whatever as long as it is shiny) and glamour (feel free to interpret this however you wish) - from Caroline.

Romance is the Glamour (Bonus challenge #1)
The idea for this challenge was to use lots of bling!! I have used a bling frame around the pic, bling on the necklace around the silhoutted lady and also on the dog collar.

PP's, letters, motifs and icons came from the 'Paper journey's collection pack' called "I enjoy being a girl'

The title and journalling says: Romance is the Glamour which turns the dust of everyday life into a Golden Haze.
