SCRAP our STASH - Everything Happens For A Reason

Hi Ladies!

Here is my first ever entry for 'Scrap our Stash'

Create a MONOCHROMATIC layout and include the following:
1. Your layout should be different shades of 1 color.
2. You can add black, white or Kraft --- but 75% must be shades of 1 color.
3. STASH ITEMS: You must also add 5 (or more) DIFFERENT premade/prepackaged embellishments of your choice on your layout. You can use as many of the items you want BUT you will need to list 5 different items. (example - 2 paperclips, 4 buttons, 1 washi tape, 1 twine, and bling)
4. Please not what items you used in your write up. Thanks!
I do so love Monochromatic layouts, they are my absolute favourites!!

Lessology #36 - WINDOW DISPLAY

Hi Ladies!

I thought this would be a great opportunity to showcase a stained glass door booklet, I made during a workshop at 'Scrappe Tiger Retreat' in May 2013. This is the first time I have posted any images. I love this book as you could give it as a gift for a wedding, Christening, or even a house warming (you could get all the guests to sign inside) or add photos of your event inside and have it as an album.

What better way to showcase my stained glass door than as an entry for Lessology.

You can get to LESSology here!

This month we want to see your best "window display" projects for LESSology Challenge #36: Window display! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a project that has a window. :)

Remember, you can create any project you like as long as it includes at least ONE upcycled item. Please mention what this item is as it may not be apparent in your post.

and

and

It's hard to imagine that this project is made out of just paper and chipboard...with lots of crackle texture.

The up-cycled item is the antique doorknob from a thrift shop!

Thanks for looking!

Archi-scraps April

Here is my entry for the April  Archi-scraps challenge.

You can find the challenge here.

This month they have something fresh and green for this month's stimulus picture.

Can you guess what the extra criteria is????
TRIANGLES

Use triangles on your layout however you like.

Here is my take on the challenge called...

'Way Back Then'

I cut out fabric triangles and layered them a bit differently down the page.
I added velum over a few to give them a muted look.

Thanks for a lovely challenge this month Julene!

I know you're out there somewhere

Here is my latest Song/Lyric challenge at Soul Scrappers

I would love you to join in!

Now!! let me introduce you to.....
The Moody Blues
The Moody Blues are an English rock band. Among their innovations was a fusion with classical music, as heard in their 1967 album Days of Future Passed.
The Moody Blues have sold more than 70 million albums worldwide and have been awarded 14 platinum and gold discs. As of 2014 they remain active with one member from the original band from 1964 and two more from the 1967 lineup.

MOODY BLUES LYRICS

"I Know You're Out There Somewhere"
I know you're out there somewhere
Somewhere, somewhere
I know I'll find you somehow
Somehow, somehow
And somehow I'll return again to you

The mist is lifting slowly
I can see the way ahead
And I've left behind the empty streets
That once inspired my life
And the strength of the emotion
Is like thunder in the air
'Cos the promise that we made each other
Haunts me to the end

I know you're out there somewhere
Somewhere, somewhere
I know you're out there somewhere
Somewhere you can hear my voice
I know I'll find you somehow
Somehow, somehow
I know I'll find you somehow
And somehow I'll return again to you

The secret of your beauty
And the mystery of your soul
I've been searching for in everyone I meet
And the times I've been mistaken
It's impossible to say
And the grass is growing
Underneath our feet

I know you're out there somewhere
Somewhere, somewhere
I know you're out there somewhere
Somewhere you can hear my voice
I know I'll find you somehow
Somehow, somehow
I know I'll find you somehow
And somehow I'll return again to you

[Interlude:]
You see I know you're out there somewhere
O yes I know you're out there somewhere
You see I know I'll find you somehow
O yes I know I'll find you somehow

the words that I remember
From my childhood still are true
That there's none so blind
As those who will not see
And to those who lack the courage
And say it's dangerous to try
Well they just don't know
That love eternal will not be denied

I know you're out there somewhere
Somewhere, somewhere
I know you're out there somewhere
Somewhere you can hear my voice
I know I'll find you somehow
Somehow, somehow
I know I'll find you somehow
And somehow I'll return again to you

Yes I know it's going to happen
I can feel you getting near
And soon we'll be returning
To the fountain of our youth
And if you wake up wondering
In the darkness I'll be there
My arms will close around you
And protect you with the truth

I know you're out there somewhere
Somewhere, somewhere
I know you're out there somewhere
Somewhere you can hear my voice
I know I'll find you somehow
Somehow, somehow
I know I'll find you somehow
And somehow I'll return again to you

Reflections of Hasan!

Here is my contribution to Hasan for.....

April 6th 2014: Raphael's Birthday - and a Day for Hasan Niyazi

Hasan sent this to Ed on his 37th birthday.  It is the Niccolini-Cowper Madonna in the National Gallery in Washington.

'US'

Hasan and I met in August 2000, and we lived together til July 2013 (13 years)! Wow! what a great life we shared together, we enjoyed much of the same things, movies, art, nature, soccer, travel and eating out at restaurants. The only thing we didnt share was our taste in music, Hasan was into ...Well I call it 'weird stuff', and I was still stuck in the 70's (Skyhooks, Dragon, Little River Band etc...)  lol

As much as I loved the passion Hasan had for Raphael, I think a lot of it will be covered by his art historian close friends on this special Raphael/Hasan Day, and to tell you the truth I am a bit 'Raphaeled Out', as I had Raphael in my life daily for many years remember. :) We had Raphael all over the house, from books, prints, even a fairing of 'Madonna of the Goldfinch' to little framed Raphaels.....the list goes on. Hasan would always read me bits and pieces from his extensive book collection on Raphael.

So my blog piece will just be from the heart with photos, poems and drawings that Hasan left me, and now make up the memories that I cherish the most. I am a scrapbooker, memory keeper (or as Hasan used to say...'Hoarder'). Scrapbooking is a method for preserving personal and family history in the form of a scrapbook. Typical memorabilia include photographs, printed media, and artwork. Scrapbook albums are often decorated and frequently contain extensive journaling.

 Hasan and his beloved Astro

A sketch Hasan drew of me back in 2001

A poem he sent me in a card back in 2001. I loved his handwriting

The poem says...

I miss my girl, I miss her smile,

Though she's only been gone a little while,

I love her laugh, I love her voice,

I love her hugs and kisses of course,

Still most of all, I love her heart,

So kind and giving from the start,

What's better still is she loves me,

So my smile is true, just wait and see

A recent Hasan selfie

This was my 2013 prediction for Hasan....

Journaling says.....

1) Stay fit and healthy

2) Finish a major part of your 'Raphael' project

3) Go on a nice holiday with me :)

4) Be a fabulous uncle to your new nephew Taylan

One of the last selfies, Hasan took of himself.

He's looking very daper, don't you think?

Way back in 2000 - He always said the nicest things :)

Our trip to 'Playa Del Carmen' Mexico in 2006

OMG!! - I remember that day vividly it was about 50 degrees in the shade!!!

Astro's first birthday!! lol

 Tuna cake...MEOW!!!

I just had to add this page of Hasans beloved Astro

Hasan in Florence 2013

Lunch at Abbortsford Convent in Collingwood 2012

Frosty fruit share 2012 :)

Once upon a time I kissed a frog and fell in love with the handsome Prince!

Another poem from Hasan...

When things are meant to be,

Angels will see it to be done,

So long have I searched and dreamed,

For the love from that special one...

A smile and a blessing you are to my heart,

Like sunshine on a beautiful day,

Beside you Sharon my joy is so true,

In my heart you will forever stay..

On that note I would like to say, that Hasan has not left my side since he passed away. He is still with me in the course of my day, every place I go and every place I look--and this is a great source of strength and comfort :)

Valentines Day #14 with Hasan

I would have loved to have put this post up on Valentines Day but my computer was playing up...all fixed now :)

I kept up tradition and made a handmade card for Hasan for Valentines Day, as he will always be in my heart and never forgotten. The single rose is from Hasan to me.....he told me to buy some flowers on Valentines day from him :) In death he is still caring and loving and I could feel his presence with me on Valentines Day.

Jenna my DD bought me the beautiful heart pillow and the champagne glasses filled with chocolates, Jarred my DS made me breakfast in bed :)

Here are some photos from Hasan and My first ever Valentines day back in 2001. We stayed the night at the downtowner in Lygon St Carlton. there is also some photos of my first Valentines gift to Hasan... 'The Lady of Shalott' (Waterhouse) framed print, which remained a beautiful centre piece hanging in our lounge room.

Photos taken from the 'Lovey Book' I made Hasan back in 2001

It's so nice to have these wonderful memories of our journey together....

Love to All

Here are some photos taken of Hasan on Christmas Day 2012 at my brothers (Craigs) home, where we had our hot christmas lunch :) Always a lovely day spent with your loved ones....
