Sing Like the Birds

This is my entry for the September cybercraop at Ready, Set, Scrap set by AM.

Ann-Marie has caught Spring Fever! Here are the details of her challenge for you this month.

For my challenge I would like to see the word BIRD on your page somewhere

It can be in the title or in the journaling .. anywhere!
I also want to see some form of repetition on your page.
It can be a stamped image, the photo or a word - be creative! However it must be something repeated 3 or more times.
I want you to scrap with the though that less is more ... have some white space!
A bird somewhere on your page would be great - be it in the pattern paper or a charm etc
and finally .... here's the clincher lol!

I only want you to use 1 paper / Cardstock for this!!

You may add a flower or a frame etc made from some patterned paper

Here is my take on the September CC Challenge # 3 Birds are Chirping

All criteria covered:
The word bird appears in my title and journalling.
A repition of three photos.
Space
Embellie birds on the page
one pp = from the Green Stack

Journalling says: I want to sing like the birds sing and not worry about who hears or what they think - Rumi

And a close up!

and here is AM's example.......

In Loving Memory of Britt Lapthorne

My friend and close work companion Elke Lapthorne lost her daughter a year ago tomorrow. My heart aches for the family, who still to this day have no answers as to what actually happened to their beautiful daughter.

Britt went missing while backpacking in Dubrovnik, Croatia in the early hours of September 18th 2008 after leaving club Feugo. After an exhaustive search, her body was found in the sea in the Bay of Boninovo on October 8th 2008, and several days later was returned home to Australia accompanied by her father and brother. She was 21 years old. There are many people grieving the loss of such a vibrant and happy girl.

Her case attracted widespread support and media attention both here in Australia and in Croatia.

Britt is survived by her parents Dale and Elke, brother Darren, boyfriend Simon, and many extended family members and friends.

She will be loved and remembered FOREVER.

Rest in Peace Beautiful Angel!!

Romance is the Glamour

This is my entry for the Casino Royale Bonus challenge # 1 at 'Roll 2 Create'

Glitz & Glamour

The first bonus challenge I have for you is a bit of an open challenge.
Create a card, LO, OTP, what ever your scrappy heart desires.
The only criteria is use lots of glitz (bling, glitter, kindy glitz, pearls, sequins, whatever as long as it is shiny) and glamour (feel free to interpret this however you wish) - from Caroline.

Romance is the Glamour (Bonus challenge #1)
The idea for this challenge was to use lots of bling!! I have used a bling frame around the pic, bling on the necklace around the silhoutted lady and also on the dog collar.

PP's, letters, motifs and icons came from the 'Paper journey's collection pack' called "I enjoy being a girl'

The title and journalling says: Romance is the Glamour which turns the dust of everyday life into a Golden Haze.

Love With an Open Heart

This is my take on the Twighlight challenge at 'Forever Always'.

This month we have taken our inspiration from the recent popular vampire craze sweeping the world with Stephenie Meyers'"Twilight"

A Short Synopsis
TWILIGHT is an action-packed, modern-day love story between a vampire and a human. Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a little bit different, never caring about fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix high school. When her mother remarries and sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn’t expect much of anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen , a boy unlike any she’s ever met. Intelligent and witty, he sees straight into her soul. Soon, Bella and Edward are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance. Edward can run faster than a mountain lion, he can stop a moving car with his bare hands — and he hasn’t aged since 1918. Like all vampires, he’s immortal. But he doesn’t have fangs, and he doesn’t drink human blood; Edward and his family are unique among vampires in their lifestyle choice. To Edward, Bella is that thing he has waited 90 years for — a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. But what will Edward and Bella do when James, Laurent and Victoria, the Cullens’ mortal vampire enemies, come to town, looking for her?

The challenge is to
Create an all Red layout with the following included.
    Use a heart
Use only black and White photos

Hey Ladies, we are going to live longer :)

DRINKING tea, keeping a tidy desk and looking at old photographs can keep you feeling young.

Researchers cite a love of a cup of tea (helps blood vessels to relax), uncluttered surfaces (de-stresses and boosts concentration) and regularly poring over old photo albums (boosts mood more than wine, chocolate or music) as some of the ingredients to feeling youthful.

Here is the link:

I love this, we are all going to be scrapping for years, just to keep younger of course :)

Hold em

This is my entry for the first challenge at "Roll 2 Create" Casino Royale challenges.

Here is the criteria for the first challenge:

Theme - Poker

Criteria:
  • Main colours are to be black or red (or both if you wish);
  • Use numbers or the card suits (hearts, diamond, clubs, spades) somewhere on your layout.

I have covered all the criteria for this challenge:

1. black and white photo
2. used card suits

The photo is of 'me' when I was about 4yrs old in a cowboy suit that I got for Xmas. I hand cut all the suit pieces, title and white playing cards from cards stock. Stamped the journalling and added the vintage hand holding the cards.

As this challenge was centred around 'Gambling' and Poker, I used Kenny Rodgers - The 'Gambler" song lyrics as my journalling.... 'You got to know when to hold em' ..........

This song is characterised as a metaphor for life, in that you need to know when to stand your ground (when to hold 'em) and when to retreat (when to fold 'em). The gambler has learned that the trick to life isn't the cards you've been delt, but how to play them (every hand being a "winner" or a"loser" depending on how they are played). The "ace" that Rodgers refers to in the end of the song is this advice.

Here are a few close ups!!!

Miss September is my 'Polka Dot Princess'........

I loved this months 'Out of the Hat' challenge, the criteria was really easy to work with, so thanks ladies for all your clever ideas.

Here is the criteria for the months challenge:

1. Use some sort of distressing on your layout - Belinda Boyce

2. Use black & white and only 1 other colour - Wendy Smith

3. Use different types of lettering in your title - Kim Jeffress

For this challenge I cut a frame out of 'babycakes' pp, and raised it up on thick cardboard strips edging the black cs. I then rolled back the inner edges, and added some tearing for the distressed look. I also used the same pp and distressed around the photo matt as well. I used pink as my other main color and a mixture of all the odd letters I have in my stash.

and a few close ups!!
