ARTastic - Six Ladies Dancing

Hi Ladies!

There is a great challenge this month at ARTastic Challenge blog, you can get to the challenge here!

The Inspirational painting is 'Seven Girls Running' by John Maitland
The Criteria is Girls only!

So, with that in mind I decided to get my paintbrushes
and paints out and paint a canvas.

What I took from the artwork!
Girls spread out across the page,
the motled background,
and of course 'girls' only

Six Ladies Dancing

I used brighter colors for my background and the stippling technique to blend colors.

I painted the dancing ladies in black, which raises them slightly off the page and gives the canvas more depth.

I like how they are dancing across the canvas

Here is a close up

I used a technique where you repeat the feet (as shadows) and drag the brush slowly off the page so the feet seem to disappear

Thanks for a lovely challenge, I'm really happy how my canvas turned out!

More Than Words - ESCAPE DEPRESSION

Hi Ladies!

Here is my take on this months challenge at 'More Than Words' challenge Blog.
You can get to the challenge Here.

Word Inspiration - ESCAPE
Creative Challenge - MOOD PHOTO

Here is my take on the challenge....

'Trying to ESCAPE the clutches of Depression'

If anyone has suffered depression you would know that its a delibitating experience and causes a lot of heartache for family, friends as well as yourself.

In October 2013 I found my partner deceased (unexpectantly), and so my battle with depression started. It's been two and a half years since that dreadful day but I'm starting to feel a little better about myself and my world!

I took my inspiration for my page from the lone tree, hence the loan person (you become). There is a small flock of birds on the mood photo, so I added black and grey birds to my page. I wanted to portray the experience of the world closing in on you and trying to squeeze you out!

Sorry Ladies! This is not a rainbow page as depicted in the mood photo.

Depression is such a dark experience!

Thankyou for another great challenge MTW ladies!

Cheers

Archi-scraps - SMILE card

Hi Ladies!

Here is the March criteria for the Archi-scraps challenge. The challenge is based around the photo below.

If you would like to join in you can get to Archi-scraps here.

The Criteria is to  USE GESSO OR TEXTURE PASTE and SOME YELLOW.
Your layout or card doesn't have to be all yellow, but we do need to see how this building influenced you, perhaps a shape or an image it evokes.
You may do a card, tag, layout etc.

I made a card this time round!

My card was influenced by the the trailing leaves on the columns and the white painted edging around the eaves. I used Gesso on top of the wooden leaf/branch as a sealer and then I used 'Tinby' mettalic melts 'Glistening Snow' to cover the leaf/branch

Great challenge this month Julene and DT Girls!

Hello Ladies!!

There is a new kid on the block....lol
Well, a new challenge site called 'More than Words'
This is their March challenge!!
You can find your way to their blog Here

I made a new years resolution that I would follow
this new challenge site from 'woe to go'  - (from beginning to end),
so here is my interpretation of their March challenge.

The Main Challenge is based on a Word Inspiration and a Creative Challenge.
This challenge is open to layouts, canvases and art journal pages only.

Word Inspiration is BLISS
Creative Challenge is use GESSO

I made a page for my mixed media journal,
using the word Bliss and using Gesso
to paint over my background of torn papers.

I learnt a new technique from the very talented Tammy James
(and her very enthusiastic helper Donna Stevens)
at the 'Scrapalong' retreat early this month.

The technique is covering/painting/altering images taken from magazines.
I will definately being trying this technique again soon.

I used a quote from Swami Savananda

Here is a close up!

Thanks for another WONDERFUL challenge MTW DT girls

ARTastic - Let your Dreams take Flight

Hi Ladies!

There is a lovely challenge this month at ARTastic challenge blog using this beautiful painted image. You can get to the challenge here

Green Lorikeets by Cathy McClelland

The CRITERIA is to use PAINT on your work.

Here is my page for the challenge called.....

'Let your Dreams Take Flight

I painted around a cereal bowl with Jo Sonja's  'Burnt Sienna' acrylic paints and plopped it down in the corner, I also painted around the edge of the page and added splatters.
I used this photo not only because it was green (I ran out of ink in my printer...lol) but because it is a photo of Bern and Cin (friends) and Steve and I, feeding Lorikeets at Currumbin Bird Sanctuary in the 80's on a very cold and miserable raining day!

Here is a close up...
I'm on the right with the Lorikeet perched on my head...

Thanks for a fab 'birdie/paint' challenge Jane and DT girls!

cheers

Pixels and Paper - Been There Done That

Hi Ladies!

The challenge this month over at Pixels and Paper is TRAVEL themed inspiration! If you would like to join in the challenge, you can find it here. The inspirational photo is below....

I took the map and pinned points of travel as my inspiration.

Here is my page for the challenge...

'Been There Done That'

I saw something similar on my bloggy travels (as you do!) but from memory it was a map of the United States, I wanted to do a similar page but showcasing my Aussie travels.

Here is a close up!

Journalling says....I love travelling!! I have visited quite a number of places in Australia. In the late 70's I flew to Perth to stay with friends and then drove back along the Nallabour (now that was an experience). I have been to Broken Hill and Coober Pedy on our way to Alice Springs, (climbed to chicken rock at Uluru)!! I love my travels!

Thanks for a travel challenge Jane and DT girls.
