Sunshine

This is my creation for Natalie Elphinstones challenge - Jolly June Yellow challenge, with your choice of Prize :)

Her Challenge:
I challenge you to make me forget about the blues and greys of winter, and show me something yellow.

I want you to create something (absolutely anything!!) with yellow as a feature colour.

It could be a layout, a card, a dress, a canvas, jewellery, a home decor item....... wherever your imagination takes you. I don't care if you make this for someone else's challenge (as long as they don't mind) or if it's just for you.

You have til the end of June to get your challenge in!! You can get to Natalies challenge from here.

Here is my never seen before layout called

'Sunshine'

(this oughta take Natalies blue's away!!! lol)

This was one of my first ever scrapbook pages, I never got around to posting it to my blog.....

The journaling says: I remember this day like it was yesterday. This photo was taken on a beautiful sunny day rowing on the Yarra River in Fairfield with friends. Fairfield Boathouse, Yarra Bend 1978. ...............................I was 20 years old back then :)

It's never too late.......[take 2]

This was my 'About Me' Challenge at Soul Scrappers'.

This challenge is a follow on from my entry in Erika's AMC10 challenge........'It's never too late'..........

For this challenge journal about a topic that you feel, It's never too late" to do
Examples:
.....to say your sorry .....to learn a new language
.....to be kind .....to face your fears
.....to save your money .....to get fit
.....to learn to cook .....to be yourself

There's literally hundreds of topics and ideas that you could use on your page

Create a scrapbook page following the challenge guidelines listed below

1. Must have 'It's never too late'.........somewhere on your page
2. Must have your chosen topic listed on the page either from examples above or your own idea.
3. pic of your self
4. hand written journaling

It's never too late'.......To Laugh at Yourself

This is what my hand written journaling says: Life is too short to take it too seriously. It's easy to laugh at others - much harder to laugh at ourselves. but it's more rewarding. It lightens our lives, it brightens others lives. It builds self confidence and self worth. It endears us to others.

I had seven ladies join in the challenge:

Here is my winner......

The winner is Mary Anderson with her entry 'It's never too late to......act silly!

The reason I chose Mary's entry was....... its always great to stay positive and laugh at yourself or laugh along side others. :) I think Mary is a lot like myself and tries to find fun and humour by being silly and laughing at ourselves, life is too short, to take it seriously plus its great to have some fun :)

It's never too late......

I won Erikas challenge at Soul Scrappers.

Erika - I picked Shazza's page for AMC10. It gave me a wonderful view of many of the things that she's done over her years and that it's not too late to do anything as long as we're still here.

This challenge was to documenting what you've learned in life about yourself.

Journaling says: I've learned in life that it's never too late....... to break free of stale habits and change my life. Even if they are just small and humble changes. Some of the changes I have made during my life are, quit smoking, learning to say NO!, to lose weight and to love again. Even simple things like watching a sunset, listening to birds, laughing at yourself or finding beauty in everything I see.
This year I thought it's never too late to make some new friends, if I hadn't joined 'Soul Scrappers' I would not have made some wonderful internet friendships, like Erika, the Soul Team, Chriss Weiss and Mary Steinmetz.
It's never too late..... to do anything, you just have to take that first step!

Super Soccer Puppy

Yippee!! The world cup is underway...... I did this page for Debs sport themed page at 'Soul Scrappers and for 'The Studio' challenge site....Scrap using only the colours on your country's flag (and black)

Although not my country's colors it is our new baby chihauhau 'Duke' countries colors lol

I have used white letters (Rusty Pickle) and metal (brads and green matching paper clip) also background cs matches the green jersey, also used a black pen for journaling lol

Journaling says: We bought 'Duke' our chihauhau a Mexican soccer top (jersey) for the world cup. He wears it everyday, we have trouble getting it off him to wash :(
Here he is warming up for his soccer match. This is his favourite soccer ball and he always gives it a lick for good luck.

It's FREE STUFF that can be used on a scrapbooking page, card, OTP item or used in any creative way you like.......everyone loves FREE!

(Check out the projects that were submitted for Soul Scrap Quest #1)

You will be sent a pack of embellishments to use on your page. Everyone

scrap a page etc...... using all or most of these items. You can add anything you
like but you must use all or most of your FREE STUFF!

What makes this QUEST unique..... is that until you open your
envelope you are really not going to know what is in it, and what you
are expected to use. Some of the embellishments could be shop bought,
painted items, stickers, stamped images, polymer clay items, metal
items, hand pieced images, handmade flowers, sewn items, felt items
etc......... the list goes on!!

Benefit of the Quest!!
1. You scrap items you may never have thought of scrapping before
2. You get to see how 19 or so other individuals use their items and you will be amazed at all the creative ideas.
3. You use techniques and ideas on your future scrap booking pages.
4. Makes you think out side the square, you become more creative and arty!
5. Perfect for beginners because you will learn so much

Presentation, balance, design and overall look = 4pts
Creativity using embellishments = 4 pts
Total 20 points

NOTE: Yes you can slap em all down on a page and get 12 points, but you
will score low in presentation, design use of embellishments etc....see I
know what you are thinking!!!

Here's what I came up with for our SSQ#2

and

I decided to make a 'Diorama' for the SSQ #2 challenge. I got the idea to use a 'wonderland theme' from ARTastic challenge blog as this months inspirational movie poster was 'Alice in Wonderland' and I thought all the bits and pieces from Erika would suit this theme....

Whats going on in Jenna's Wonderland.......
Madhatter has grabbed his tea pot and heading off to his tea party as the banners advertise. The white rabbit is lurking around and continualy checking the time. Alice my DD Jenna is delighted to be in 'Wonderland' and is off up the stepping stone path to meet the catterpillar. The cheshire cat is grinning like a mad puss!!!...as always!!
Froggy is looking astonished at whats going on.

so................ heres how I used all the bits and pieces
6 asstd butterfly die cuts = 3 on wire and 3 attached.
3 flower die cuts = look hard I have attached the white side as centres to larger flowers I hand cut.
1 piece pink ric-rac = used to tie the banner 'M.A.D.(R/H side)
1 piece of butterfly ribbon = used to make 'Jenna's Wonderland' flag
1 piece yellow ribbon = also used as a flag
4 epoxy round stickers = used on 4 butterflies as bodies
1 stick pin = top of flag
3 buttons = used as centres for the 3 die cut flowers
3 alterable bottle caps = used for covered stepping stone leading Jenna to catterpillar!
3 asstd tags = used for MAD banner
1 strip of patterned paper = this was the hardest to use but I ended up cutting lengthways and making party streamers attached to Right hand side of diorama.
1 bag of pink/blue beads = threaded to wire and attached as butterfly flight path lol
I ended up with the word 'Laugh' in my bits and pieces dont know if it was supposed to be there but I made it into a sign as I thought it was a great addition to the theme.

Other additions:
Mushroom made from clay and painted, stalk is a large cork.
Catterpillar pieced together from circles and cs

Footprints.......

Hey pop on over to 'Scrap That Poetry' the latest poem 'Footprints in the Sand' is up and there is lots of inspiration from the DT ladies. would love to see you take on the challenge :)

Footprints in the Sand

Mary Stevenson

One night I had a dream --
I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and
Across the sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand;
One belonged to me, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of my life flashed before us,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that many times along the path of my life,
There was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life
This really bothered me, and I questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
You would walk with me all the way;
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life,
There is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why in times when I
needed you the most, you should leave me.
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious
child. I love you, and I would never,
never leave you during your times of
trial and suffering.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

Here is my interpretation:

Here is my sub for the month featuring Jarred my son leaving his footprints all over the sand at 'Ocean Grove' in 1988, of course I had to add the poem and some sandy feet lol

Here is another project, I have finally finished for 'Little Light Studio'

A flower pot with circle flowers.

This was one of the tutorials in the 'In Bloom' classes.

You've got join in when the classes are offered next time, as its really well worth it, the classes are not overly expensive in fact quite reasonable :)

Each circle flower is attached to a peg that has magnetic tape on the back.
So you can pin up reminders, bills etc... to your fridge :)

Photo swap at Soul Scrappers

I still have quite a few posts to catch up on.......Here is my photo swap I did for Mary Steinmetz at Soul Scrappers last month, called 'Altoona Beach' featuring her two gorgeous daughters Jenn and Hannah. I tried a seascape with lots of bits and pieces and made it a bit arty as well as 3D. I have just noticed the filtered light across the page from my photo shoot :(
