Melt when looked Upon!

Here is my entry for Scrap that Poetry challenge for January. The poem is.....

New Year
by Katharine Lee Bates

WHITE year, white year,
Muffled soft in snow,
A diamond spray whose gems are gone
Before their grace we know,
A crystal-coated spray whose hours
Melt when looked upon,
Hoarfrost stars and hoarfrost flowers,
White year!

Green year, green year,
Sweet with sun and showers,
A windblown spray whose blossoms bright
Are the seven-colored hours,
A dancing spray whose leaves are days,
A spray whose leaves delight
In azure gleam and silver haze,
Green year!

New Year, new year
From rosy leaf to gold,
A shining spray on the Tree of Time
Where myriad sprays unfold,
A spray so fair that God may see
And gather it, bloom and rime,
To deck the doors of Eternity,
New Year!

How does your Garden Grow?

I had a chance to put together another page for my album 'My Place in the Sun' inspired by the year long FREE class on offer from Jane Howden at Scrap Begginings, you can find the site here

In lesson one Jane talks about our backyards....What do you see out of your backdoor? Find a focal point and scrap a page showing features of your backyard.

I have scrapped some pics of the plants in our backyard and also a garden plaque I painted.
The little watering can was handmade by me for an embellishment swap, I knew it would come in handy one day :)

When I could be making them and saving myself a bit of money :)  So, Mondays will now be called MACM (Make A Card Monday)....I stole this idea from K Werner. I also used her card making tips and ideas for inspiration for some of my own cards.....her sensational blog can be found at http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/

Here is what I have been up to over the last two Monday nights :)

My home - mini book

Today I decided to do my front cover for my 'Mini Album', which is in the shape of a house.......I have never made a mini album before and this sounds like a lot of FUN!!
This project is from the year long FREE class on offer from Jane Howden at Scrap Begginings called 'Your Place in the Sun', you can find the site here

Federation Charm

I had a chance to put together another page for my album 'My Place in the Sun' inspired by the year long FREE class on offer from Jane Howden at Scrap Begginings, you can find the site here

In lesson one Jane talks about the front of our home....What aspect of your front yard appeals to you the most? Do you like your home entrance? etc........

Federation Charm

I love my home, I love the woodwork against the brickword and the federation style. Our garden is a bit overgrown atm due to the rain and high humidity over the last month or so. I love our entrance its only small but really quaint, and is kept tidy and swept. Every couple of months I gat a bucket and broom and clean the whole front of the house and double garage door as we get heaps of cobwebs.

No Place like Home

I had a chance to put together another page for my album 'My Place in the Sun' inspired by the year long FREE class on offer from Jane Howden at Scrap Begginings, you can find the site here

I wanted to make a page with a larger picture of my home and a brief discription of how we came to live at 'Parkside View' in South Morang.

and

Journaling - We have lived in 'Parkside View', South Morang since December 2003. We bought this home after selling a small 2 bedroom unit that we were living in at the time. The size of the unit and the fact that it was upstairs made it no longer appropriate, we needed somewhere bigger, and on flat ground due to the fact I had knee problems at the time.

I love my home at Parkside View, especially the color of the bricks and woodwork features.I also love the bay lounge room at the front of the house. Inside the open living floor plan maintains a sense of formality and functionality.

I made the 'Home Sweet Home' sign from polymer clay and used a stamp to stamp the wording. I love the little yellow owl calling out 'Home', and the sun peeping out from behind the clouds :)

Next.......looking at the back yard and front yard......

Joy and Merry Christmas

Here are two entries for Gwens 'Recycling Christmas Cards' challenge at Soul Scrappers.

Here are the challenge details.....by Gwen. You can view the challenge here
It's that time of year when we have a pile of Christmas cards and we aren't sure if we want to throw them out, or save them.  I have started a new tradition of Recycling my Cards onto scrapbook pages either as a focal point or cut into a tag for an accent or into circles or frames as an element...
I hope that you will make time to choose a few of your favorite cards either handmade or bought that you received this year either in the mail or by hand, and use them somehow on a  scrapbook page.
THAT is your challenge! Pretty simple huh?

Joy

I have used a beautiful handmade Christmas card that Mary Steinmetz sent me for Christmas 2010. Using her card as part of my layout means I will never misplace the card.

This photo of Hasan and I, was taken in 2009......we both look very joyous!

Merry Christmas

Another card I want to keep, this hand made card was from Debi Clark for Christmas 2010. I love how she didn't use traditional christmas colors but a wintry blue perfect for a cold Snowy Christmas...I love the little chipboard sleigh she used :)
The photo is my neice Tillie on Christmas Day.

I used the 'Presto Patterns Speciality DSP from SU! and inked around the page with 'Baja Breeze'. I love how the embossing lifts off the page :)

Just One Candle Burning Low

Here is my entry for 'Scrap that Poetry' challenge. Challenge # 31

I used the poem -Mistletoe a Christmas poem
by Walter de la Mare

Make it Snow !
Sitting under the mistletoe
(Pale-green, fairy mistletoe),
One last candle burning low,
All the sleepy dancers gone,
Just one candle burning on,
Shadows lurking everywhere:
Some one came, and kissed me there.
Tired I was; my head would go
Nodding under the mistletoe
(Pale-green, fairy mistletoe),
No footsteps came, no voice, but only,
Just as I sat there, sleepy, lonely,
Stooped in the still and shadowy air
Lips unseen - and kissed me there.
I have used cuts outs from old Christmas cards from 2001 as my embellishments

(The christmas cards I used from Christmas 2001 were from....McConville Family, Blight Family, Lindner Family, Mark and Daniella, Nan and Pa Bishop, Pauline And Frank, Deb and Isabelle(the cat!) and my mum)
Here is a close up :)

I am also going to add this to Gwens challenge TC26 'Recycling Christmas cards'
challenge at Soul Scrappers.
