OOh Jenna has lost a day

This is my take for Amandas Quote challenge at 'Aussie Girls Gone Scrappin'

For this challenge you had to use the quote.............' A day without laughter is a day wasted' by Charlie Chaplin.................and to also use flowers and buttons on your LO

Have covered all criteria. Used a photo of Jenna when she was little in one of her grumpy moods! I put the quote inside a little frame.

I called it 'Ooh Jenna has lost a day' because of her moodiness, she didn't have a very good day! It was wasted on tears and tantrums, a day she will never get back!!

I'm Feeling Sad Today.......

Today is the eleventh year anniversary of my Dads passing. I've felt quite down all morning, usually all the family get together and go to the 'Old England Hotel' in Heidelberg for a get together, as this was his old drinking place. My mum is not feeling up to going so we are leaving it this year.
I've got a photo of dad holding a beer, he's keeping me company today while I scrap and sew, that's him below 'Graeme'. He was a great Dad, a real prancster and always clowning around!!

Not sure if any followers read in the papers about the horrific road accident in Mill Park where 5 young teenagers lost their lives (one young girl survived).... 6 in the car!!!

Well!! I work 1.5 kms from where the accident occurred further down along Plenty Road and had to go post the scene yesterday afternoon. There were about 4o teenagers in small groups and milling around, they have spray painted messages on the tree stumps and back fences that back onto the area..... it was very sad to see where it actually happened and flowers everywhere.....

I have mixed emotions, I feel so sorry for the families involved and also anger that this has happened.....as I said... I'm feeling sad today!!

My Little Horse

Here is the current poem at 'Scrap that Poetry', I couldn't resist doing this challenge, the words in the poem were so inspiring. Here is the poem.........

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
by Robert Frost

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here,
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer,
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Here is my take called 'My Little Horse'


I wanted the layout to look dark and grungy so I wrote the poem on to grey card stock and shaped into clouds, I used black silhouetted trees to try and create the woods looking dark and deep. I added 'snow tex' (loving that stuff!!), to the branches to make it look like they are snow covered. A little silhouette of a stag just added the right touch.

Here is a close up, you can see the 'snow tex' better, it was a bit fiddly applying it with a tiny spatula.

Sorry Ladies, another one I forgot to upload......

This is my December ARTastic submission, the inspiration came from the Vermeer painting

Ok Ladies... I followed the criteria with an earring on the page (lampshade pearl stuck to a Stampin UP! filigree brad). I used this portrait style photo of my DD Jenna, as she has a comtemplative look in her eye and I love the similarity to 'The Girl with the Pearl Earring'.
I used earthy tones for the flowers and a blue background taking the colors from the painting.
I cut a felt frame (my2angels) and used the flowers to fill up the space left on the corners. I love the painting and I love Vermeer as an Artist.

Okay, It's done and dusted!! I think I should have called this one 'Cowgirl in Pooh' !!
My Christmas mojo was not very good to me and left me thinking ...'what have I actually created here'!!! I do not get the bonus points as I only used one black and white photo :(
However, at least I went with the black and white layout and one strong color!!
Not my best ever layout, that's for sure lol

Let it Snow

This is the poster to use for your inspiration plus the added criteria below.


Decembers Poster'Deck the Halls' Criteria....

1. Use a Christmas Song title for you layout title

2. Use 3 or more Christmas embellishments
stars, candy canes, snow man, presents etc....

3. Lots of colourful bling




Hi Everyone!!

I have followed the criteria for this layout, I used the song title 'Let it Snow'. I hand made my fat snowman and used a felt tree and red stamped presents, (Stampin UP! roller - Gifts Galore), I also used paper snowflakes (3 or more Christmas embellishments used). For lots of bling I attached plastic fairy lights to wire and fixed to my layout with wire and tied off at the back of the layout, I strung them around the photo copying the lights around the house on the Deck the Halls movie poster. I also used Snow-Tex on the word Snow for authenticity. The photo was taken last year Christmas day with my neice Tiliesha (better known as Tillie) posing for me with the North Pole sign..... she is such a character!!

I also entered this in the January Challenge # 4 - Winter Song at Dixie Pieces.

Here is my take on the challenge.



I used Pro Harts use of blues and reds as part of my color scheme. A bouquet of orange and red flowers and a cute pic of Jenna (DD) when she was a kinder kid. I added two little Raggedy Anne's pics to match the curtains in the background.

2010 - My Word

This is my first year that I have actually participated in My Word.

I have been thinking and deciding on the best word to suit me for 2010....and after much deliberation I have decided on the word 'STEPS' !!!

In everything I do, I go at things like a 'Bull at a Gate', rushing around and I always take on too much whether its at work or home or scrapping........everything is a blur sometimes so I have decided to slow down and the word that best suits me is 'Steps'.

'Steps' to me is any maneuver made as part of progress toward a goal even if I get there taking baby steps!! I'm going to take these smaller steps this year, take things slowly, and enjoy what I am doing, one baby step at a time............

You will probably see the word 'Steps' pop up in a few layouts this year :)

Once Upon a time......



Challenge = Tell it like you've never told it before!

This is what the journaling says:

Long, long ago…. A romance bloomed between two teenagers. He was handsome and strong and liked riding motor bikes, she was sweet and beautiful and taught Sunday school. They met at a coffee shop and spent the day talking and getting to know each other.


Far, far away…. They ended up getting married

and moved to Rosanna. They had four children,

Sharon, Debbie, Craig and Lorel. They loved to

go on boating holidays where all the children

learnt how to water ski, they also spent a lot of

family time camping.


Happily Ever After…. They built a beautiful

two storey house, went on overseas holidays and

ran a family souvenir business together……. This

Tanya is 40!!

My friend Tanya (and Stampin' UP! up-line) is 40 on the 17th January, so a few of her closest girlfriends got together and did a few special things for her during the month leading up to her birthday. From the 1st January til the 17th we all did something special!!


I made her up a jar of scrapbooking bits and pieces and decorated it! I then organised with her husband whilst she was at work to go around and hide it in her house and then 'sms' her some clues so she could hunt around and find it, when she got home from work. I hid it in her dryer in the laundry...... she doesnt use the dryer much on these hot Melbourne days and infact I'm not sure if she uses the dryer much at all considering the state of the laundry!!........................... lol
(She's going to kill me now!!)

Week # 10 - Erika Martin's Journaling Course

Week # 10 "Random Pictures from Different Times"

Timeless!!

Challenge = to use photos from 5 or more years ago

I chose to only use one photo from more than 5 years ago,
apart from sentimental value, I thought it was worth telling the story behind it.....


This is what the journaling says:


When I was a little girl, I remember a

beautiful etched glass photo frame with

a photo of me at five years, sitting crossed

legged talking on an old fashioned telephone.

It took pride of place on a telephone table

at my Grandmothers house.

Many years later my mother inherited it

and it sat inside a glass cabinet in our

lounge room. I loved that photo frame!!

After my dad passed away in 1999, my

mum sold our family home. Her two

storey five bedroom home was too much

for her to look after so she moved to a smaller

unit. During the packing up she gave me

the etched photo frame to keep.

Putting it up on a shelf in my own home,

I dropped it and shattered the glass frame…….

I was devastated, that frame was so beautiful!!

I started to sweep up the glass and on taking

the photo of me out of the frame, I discovered

another photo hidden behind my photo in

the frame, obviously my photo had been

placed over the top by my Grandmother.

Amazing!! It was an old sepia photograph

taken of my Grandmother ‘Annie Amelia

Chalk, as a little girl standing next to my

Great Grandmother ‘Henrietta Lucy Taylor’.

This is the only family photo we have of

my grandmother as a little girl and the only

photo in existence of my Grandmother.

What a find……

Greeting from Shazza, I hope this letter finds you and Mrs Claus warm and in good spirits. Christmas is my favourite time of year, as I love getting together with my family and friends. I have to watch my cash and try and find perfect inexpensive gifts for Hasan, Jenna, Adam, Jarred and the rest of my family, all in the next few weeks. So, Santa could you please lend me an elf or two!!

Distant Dreamer

Challenge = is to use chipboard in some way on your layout.

I used a chunky single corner piece of chipboard on one corner of my photo

Scrap That Poetry - Challenge # 7

This is my second challenge entry for the year, Jennifer Campbell has this great challenge site called 'Scrap That Poetry', so if you love poetry as much as I do then head on over and check it out.......

I am really happy with the way this layout turned out, and enjoyed every minute putting it together. From the little owl with Emily Dickenson's photo tucked under her wing, to my Niece Megan holding 'HOPE' above her head. Across the tree branch I have journaled....'shout it from the tree tops'.....very appropriate I would say.....

Challenge # 7 is the beautiful piece by Emily Dickenson called Hope.

Jo's 40th Birthday card.

My friend Jo is turning 4o today and to celebrate her special occasion she is having a BEACH PARTY. You get to wear your favourite thongs, shorts t-shirts or bikini...........lol
